Initially running Abarth sports cars, Osella built its first car for Formula 2 in 1974. Ever the enthusiast, Osella mainly ran a one car team usually found at the back of the grid. Taken over by Gabriele Rumi''s Fondmetal in 1990 and renamed the following year, the team finally closed after the Italian Grand Prix in 1992.
