Ensign (Bora) 1973-1982 (Great Britain)Principal: Morris Nunn.Base: Chasetown, Staffordshire/ Lichfield, Staffordshire (1981). Founded: 1970. Former racer Nunn started building Formula 3 cars with considerable success and from this, Rikky von Opel commissioned Nunn to build an Formula 1 car for 1973. Nunn stayed with F1 when Opel moved on, but money was always going to be tight. After falling out with his Dutch sponsor, HB Bewaking took the N175 and entered it as a Bora for a couple of season. With a shortage of funds, Nunn welcomed a merger with Teddy Yip''s Theodore concern and the recently acquired Shadow cars. Morris Nunn then transferred his interests to American racing where he achieved great success as an engineer in IndyCar racing. (Grand Prix Data Book) |
