Initially formed with Carroll Shelby to attack Indianapolis and known as All American Racers. Gurney still had ambitions in Grand Prix and formed Anglo American Racers on the other side of the Atlantic at Weslake''s engine workshop. In 1968 Gurney severed his links with the engine builders and moved to a new workshop in Ashford, Kent to develop his own engines. Funds became very tight and Gurney abandoned his Formula 1 aspirations and returned to America where he has achieved many successes most notably with Toyota.
